Gold and silver smelting and enrichment of e-waste promote the recycling of precious metal resources

There are many types of plasma melting furnaces, such as open furnace and closed vacuum furnace. The latter has some characteristics of arc melting and vacuum melting, and they all use DC power supply.

The key equipment is the spray gun, which consists of a water-cooled copper nozzle and a water-cooled copper spray electrode rod (as a cathode). The argon gas is injected into the furnace from the lance casing, and the argon gas is shocked with a high-frequency electric field to start the arc, and is ionized into a conductive argon gas fluid. The total number of positive and negative ion charges in the high temperature fluid is equal, which is called plasma. After the arc is struck, the height of the spray gun is adjusted, and under the action of the direct current electric field of the furnace, a working gas arc is formed between the spray gun and the charge, and the electric energy is converted into heat energy of the argon arc to melt the charge. At the same time, the smelting process is completed by controlling the argon flow, main arc voltage and current by lifting the spray gun. This heating method has the characteristics of concentrated energy, high heat flux, high arc temperature (up to 24000-26000K), and fast melting speed.
